NewsMedicalLifeSciences - A team from the University of Geneva (UNIGE), HES-SO Geneva and EPFL has discovered that practicing and listening to music can alter cognitive decline in healthy seniors by stimulating the production of grey matter.
Observation - What is interesting is that even if you learn an instrument when you are young and then stop playing, the positive impacts to the brain remain.

WealthManagement - More than a quarter of Americans have no money saved for retirement. That’s according to a new survey from personal finance site Credit Karma, which found older respondents are even less prepared by some measures than their younger counterparts. Nearly one in five people aged 59 and older said they didn’t have a retirement account and 27% of respondents said they haven’t set anything aside for their later years. That compared to a quarter of Gen X respondents.

CNN - A Utah CEO who is demanding that many of his remote employees start working in the company’s offices says staff members must make sacrifices, and questions whether people who serve as primary caregivers for their children, specifically working mothers and single mothers, are doing right by both their employers and their children.
Observation - there have been a lot of tone deaf CEOs this week.
Scientists may have discovered why hair turns grey
The Guardian - Scientists believe they have discovered the mechanism for hair turning grey, which could help develop treatment to alter cells in order to reverse or halt the process. A new study suggests stem cells may get stuck as hair ages and lose their ability to mature and maintain hair colour. Certain stem cells – which are able to develop into many different cell types – have a unique ability to transition between growth compartments in follicles. These cells lose the ability to move with age, resulting in greyness.
Observation - as someone who started turning “grey” in high school, not sure I would want my brown hair back. Because my grey is actually white and beautiful. Ask Anderson Cooper what he thinks. Now if you can help me make my hair grow back that is another story.
