Renée Fleming uses her soprano to amplify the healing power of music
WAPO - Renée was a past Music Has Power award-winner for IMNF, on which I serve on the board. This quote from the article tells you all you need to know.
“I believe the arts should be embedded in health care, across the board,” Fleming says. “Doctors need it, health-care providers need it. When you bring in people who are doing this work, everybody gets lifted.”

CBS News - Several key COVID-19 trends that authorities track are now accelerating around the country, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Friday. It's the first major nationwide uptick in the spread of the virus seen in months.
The largest increases are in the Midwest and the Mid-Atlantic, the agency said in its weekly report updated Friday, though virtually all regions of the country are now seeing accelerations.

What’s ‘love’ got to Drew with it?
WAPO - It’s at the end of “The Price Is Right.” Drew Carey announces the winner of the “Showcase Showdown,” and then he faces the camera. Like his predecessor, Bob Barker, Carey encourages viewers to spay or neuter their pets. But unlike Barker, Carey caps his goodbye with a three-word phrase that cuts right through the cacophony of sound and light and cheering of the studio in Glendale, Calif., and maybe also the drudgery at home on the other side of the television: the bored or frenzied stay-at-home parents, the sick kids home from school, the residents awaiting lunch at the assisted-living facility.
Carey says these words quickly but firmly. His tone and inflection rarely change. It’s a routine, like something you would say without thinking to a parent or a spouse at the end of a phone call. And yet Carey — whom you don’t know, and who doesn’t know you — says it to America.
“I love you.”
Calculator: How much does elder care cost where you live?
WAPO - The first thing most people learn when they confront the daunting U.S. eldercare system is that they can’t afford it.
Two-thirds of Americans will need some type of long-term care as they get older, according to federal data, but the price, whether for in-home services, assisted living or a nursing home, can easily cost more per year than the average American makes. Medicare and other health insurers pay little, if any, of the bill.
"Truth is incontrovertible. Panic may resent it. Ignorance may deride it. Malice may distort it. But there it is."
- Winston Churchill
