Music therapy from trained family caregivers fails to ease dementia symptoms, study finds
McKnight’s - Previous research has found that therapy offered by professional music therapists reduce behavioral and psychological symptoms in people with dementia. Trained home-based caregivers don’t achieve the same results, a new study finds. “With the global focus on enabling people with dementia to live at home, feasible and acceptable non-pharmacological approaches that family caregivers can safely implement are needed,” according to the authors.
Observation - while not a music therapy solution, Sage Stream artists often employ memory cues and other interventions to help enhance the already positive impacts their music shows are having on Sage Stream subscribers.

ABC - A report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found adults aged 65 and older composed 62.9 percent of all COVID-19-associated hospitalizations between January and August 2023, according to ABC News. Senior cheerleading club in Berks County bringing joy all year round
WPVI - Every Thursday, Kathy Lavanga leads a cheer group at the Heritage of Green Hills in Shillington, Pennsylvania. "We've been doing the cheerleading club for about five years now," says Lavanga. "And it's a really fun, tight-knit group." Cheerleading is part of the Heritage's Well by Design program. "We're actually a very active senior living community," says Kristine Rymar, Director of Residential Health Services for the Heritage of Green Hills. And the cheer group is known around campus as the Heritage Hotties.
At 104, She Wondered: Could She Skydive Again?
NYT -Dorothy Hoffner, born in 1918, had survived both the Spanish flu and Covid pandemics, as well as her first skydiving attempt at age 100.
