Music is ‘powerful tool’ for social connection, pain, mental health

From stress relief and improved mood, to maintaining a sharp mind and connections, music offers an abundance of health benefits for older adults, according to newly released research from the University of Michigan National Poll on Healthy Aging. http://tinyurl.com/4aafj9ps
Benefits included - stress relief or relaxation (75%), joy (73%), improved mental health (65%), the ability to spark memories or recall life events (61%) or motivation and energy (60%).
More than half of older adults (56%) said they listen to music daily and Four in five adults age 50–80 (80%) reported viewing musical performances on TV or the internet.
Adults age 50–80 also reported that music helps keep their mind sharp (31%), connects them to others (27%), and reduces pain (7%).
