Vadim Kolpakov - One of the Most Prominent and Renowned Romani (Gypsy) 7-String Guitarists in the World
Vadim comes from a well-known Kolpakov music dynasty that has three generations of virtuoso guitarists. Vadim specializes in Gypsy music from Europe with the fusion of Jazz, Pop, Flamenco, Latin and other World Music.
Vadim has toured worldwide with pop-icon Madonna on her "Sticky & Sweet" world tour and has collaborated with the famous band Gogol Bordello.
Vadim is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he produced the unique “Gypsy Soul” show together with the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. He has given concerts in Carnegie Hall (New York City) and many established concert venues, as well as for the presidents of Finland and Portugal presidents and their parliaments.

Having played the piano since age two, this musician was the subject of a movie inspired by actual events in his life. “Journey of the Heart” with Cybil Shepard, was a 1997 CBS made-for-TV, Movie of the Week. Additionally, he has appeared on two Global Showcase Specials (2001), The Learning Channel’s “Uncommon Genius”, Strange Science “Unusual People”, “Understanding the Mysteries of Memory” and History Channel’s “UnXplained: Mystery of Genius”. Has been the recipient of numerous awards including Boston Celtics “Hero Among Us”(2003), Chou, Ta-Kuan Cultural and Educational Foundations Global “Love of Life Award”(2002), the Faith and Family Foundation Outstanding Achievement Award 2000, the coveted Reynolds Society Achievement Award (1996), the Foundation for Exceptional Children’s prestigious “Yes, I can” Award for 1993 and the Panasonic Sponsored, VSAarts Itzhak Perlman Award (1992).

He has performed throughout North America as a soloist as well as an active member of the North Carolina Guitar Quartet and the Nuevo Flamenco ensemble the Paco Band. He has performed with the North Carolina Symphony, Raleigh Symphony, North Carolina Theater, North Carolina Bach Festival, and the Raleigh Ringers, along with his concert series at universities and colleges in the southeast, have established him as one of the region’s most sought-after performers. His most recent CD, Rosamaria, was recently completed with the Paco Band and released April 2015 under the Alanna Records label.
